WANT TO HAVE DIRECT CONTACT WITH GOD?

WANT TO HAVE DIRECT CONTACT WITH GOD?
Text: Gen .3:8-12, Gen. 18:22-23, Exo. 3, 4, 5, 6, 7.

To have a direct contact with God is to have unhindered or free access to or direct communication with God or to have personal relationship with Him. To the above question, I am sure your answer will be ‘yes’.
But there are conditionalities attached to it. The Bible says; “Can two walk together except they be agreed? Amos 3:3”. To have direct contact with Him, you must share or have some characteristics likable to His.

Holiness
God Almighty whom you want to have direct contact with is Holy. The Bible says be ye holy as your father in heaven is holy. So you have to be holy. This means that your obedience to Him must be one hundred percent. It must be total. The Bible says in 1 Peter 1:16 “Because it is written, be ye holy, for I am holy” so be holy. It is a command.

Walking in the Light
You have to walk in the light because He is in the light. 1 John 1:7 says; “But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His son purifies us from all sin”. The Bible says in Matt. 5:14, “Ye are light of the world” .

Sinless
You have to separate yourself from iniquities. The Bible says in Isa. 59:2, “But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden His face from you”. If you want direct contact or access to Him you have to get rid of sins. If you live in sin, there is no way you can have direct contact
with God. Romans 6: 1-2 says ‘shall we continue in sin that grace may abound, God forbid’.

Unwholesome Behaviour and Attitude
You have to get rid of unwholesome attitudes and behaviour, such that are driven by the ‘flesh’. Col. 3:8 “But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth, lie not to one another seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deed. You have to be a new creature to have direct contact. Whatever will constitute a barrier between you and God must be removed.

Humility
God detests the proud. You must humble yourself before God and acknowledge Him. Referring to our Jesus Christ, Phil 2:8 says; “And being found in appearance as a man humbled himself and became obedient to death even death on a cross”. Verse 9; “Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name” if you humble yourself before Him, He will relate with you onone to one. He related on one to one basis with Adam, Abraham and Moses.

Being God’s Utility/ Instrument
You have to be a vessel unto honour. Be someone whom God can rely upon to transport good messages and deliver to people. If you are a good vessel, God will readily use you for special tasks or assignments and by so doing, He will have to relate with you directly. You have to submit totally to God and be totally committed to Him and the kingdom work. You have to be on the Lord’s side. That is doing His will all
the time. Restitute your ways by making amendment with God. If you do all the above, you will definitely have direct contact with God.

Let us consider those who have had direct contact with God in the scriptures.

ADAM
In Genesis 3:8-12; Adam had direct contact with God before he fell. Verse 9: “And the Lord called unto Adam, and said unto him, where art thou?” Verse 10: “And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden and I was afraid because I was naked, and I hid myself” Verse 11: “And He said, who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?” The conversation between Adam and God continued till Gen 3:19. God drove out Adam and Eve from
the GARDEN OF EDEN and put Cherubim to mount the East end of the garden. Sin separated them from God. Adam lost the direct contact he had with God through sin. If you want God to be in direct contact, avoid sin because it is always a reproach. You will not lose your contact in Jesus’ name.
ABRAHAM
Genesis 18:18-33; Abraham had direct contact with God and that was why God said He would’nt hide anything from him. Several times God talked with him especially when Abraham was interceding for Sodom and Gomorrah. The Bible says in Gen. 18:22-23; “But Abraham stood yet before the Lord”; “And
Abraham drew near and said wilt thou also destroy the righteous with the wicked?” Gen 18:33 says: “And the Lord went His way as soon as He had left communed with Abraham and Abraham returned unto his place”. As Abraham was in direct contact with God so also you can. Abraham was totally obedient to God. An evidence was when he was ready to slaughter Isaac his only child of destiny to God before God gave a
ransom of a ram. One of the conditions for you to have direct contact with God is total obedience in giving. Nothing must be too much for you to give to God and support His work. Abraham obeyed Him and was ready to give away Isaac. So be ready to give sacrificially.

MOSES
In Exo.3:4-14, Exo.4:10-31; When the Lord was ready to set the Israelites free from bondage in Egypt He made use of Moses. Moses was in direct contact with God. As recorded in Exodus 3:4-14, Exo.4:10-31, Exo.6:28-29 and many chapters of the book of Exodus. God spoke with him face to face, mouth to mouth and God even showed Moses signs and wonders so that Moses and the children of Israel would
believe. Exo.3:4 says; “And when the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the burning bush and said Moses! Moses! and he said Here I Am”.Exo.3:10 “Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring my people - children of Israel-out of Egypt” Ex.3:14 “And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM, and He said, thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel ‘ I AM’ had sent me unto you. The conversation between God and Moses continued and is evident in the book of Exodus. Exo. 4:12 “Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth and teach
thee what thou shalt say”. God wants to be in partnership with you. Are you ready? You can be in direct contact as Adam Abraham and Moses were.

In conclusion; if you want to have direct contact with God you must be;
  • Holy
  • Sinless
  • Obedient
  • Cmmitted
  • Wlk in the light
  • Hmble
  • Give sacrificially
